Awesome Autumn.
So… it’s that wonderful time of year, when the leaves are changing colours and some areas of our gardens are preparing to rest whilst others are waiting for frosty cold snaps to be woken into life.
Despite the change in the weather there is still so much that can be enjoyed in our outdoor spaces. Whether it be enjoying earlier sunsets whist sitting around a fire pit toasting marshmallows or a crisp morning walk decorated with bejewelled cobwebs and beautiful sunrises autumn really does have something for everybody. It offers new aspects to out outdoors spaces, softer light and changing vistas.
Autumn is a time to invest some love into our gardens and with so many creative jobs to do. Many of these jobs will give instant reward and some will bring delayed gratification in the form of beautiful blooms in the spring.
Before commencing any outdoor job we would certainly recommend taking a moment in your garden with a warming cup (or perhaps a glass) of a favourite drink. Take time to really experience your garden, take in the view, listen to the sounds and allow yourself to reflect on the amazing resilience and beauty around you.
Top tips for your garden this autumn…
Now is the time to plant bulbs, favourites such as narcissus, snowdrops, crocus, iris’ and tulips, ready for them to pop up their beautiful delicate flowers into your outdoor space in the spring. With many varieties available their is a colour palette to suit all gardens as well as some simply stunning and fragrant spring flowers such as the White Lion narcissus.
Hedging and trees are ready for to be cared for in autumn. Whether your preference is shaped and manicured or left a little more ‘wild’ all trees and hedges benefit from pruning. Autumn is the perfect time to plant trees and hedging, not only will they take well with properly prepared soil (worth seeking advice on this if you are less confident) they are also most cost effective this time of year as they can be purchased as bare root plants. For the spec and supply of trees and hedging please do get in touch.
Wishing you a wonderful, warm, happy and healthy Autumn.
Very best wishes
